Gaziantep Menengiç Kahvesi has become our 29th geographical indication registered by the European Union.
Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih KACIR announced that Gaziantep Menengiç Kahvesi (Coffee) is the 29th geographically indicated product registered in the EU.
Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih KACIR made the following assessment regarding Gaziantep Menengiç Kahvesi's geographical indication registration in the European Union (EU), "With its natural aroma and unique flavor, our menengiç coffee has taken its place among the world-renowned flavors of Anatolia."
KACIR announced in a post on his social media account on December 2, 2024 that Gaziantep Menengiç Kahvesi is the 29th geographically indicated product registered in the EU.
Minister KACIR noted the following:
"With its natural aroma and unique flavor, our menengiç coffee has taken its place among the world-renowned flavors of Anatolia. May this important step be auspicious for Gaziantep and our country. We are determined to bring our local values to the world showcase and increase the brand value of our geographically indicated products with the Local Development Initiative."
Turkiye's geographical indications registered in the European Union are as follows:
Gaziantep Baklavası (Dessert), Aydın İnciri (Fig), Malatya Kayısısı (Apricot), Aydın Kestanesi (Chestnut), Milas Zeytinyağı (Olive Oil), Bayramiç Beyazı (Fruit), Taşköprü Sarımsağı (Garlic), Giresun Tombul Fındığı (Hazelnut), Antakya Künefesi (Dessert), Suruç Narı (Pomegranate), Çağlayancerit Cevizi (Walnut), Gemlik Zeytini (Olive), Edremit Zeytinyağı (Olive Oil), Milas Yağlı Zeytini (Olive), Ayaş Domatesi (Tomato), Maraş Tarhanası (Foodstuff), Edremit Körfezi Yeşil Çizik Zeytini (Olive), Ezine Peyniri (Cheese), Safranbolu Safranı (Saffron), Aydın Memecik Zeytinyağı (Olive Oil), Araban Sarımsağı (Garlic), Osmaniye Yer Fıstığı (Peanut), Bingöl Balı (Honey), Bursa Şeftalisi (Peach) and Hüyük Çileği (Strawberry), Bursa Siyah İnciri/Bursa Karası (Fig), Söke Pamuğu (Cotton), Manisa Mesir Macunu (Paste) and Gaziantep Menengiç Kahvesi (Coffee).”
