The Geographical Indication of Mut Zeytinyağı (Olive Oil), originating from the Mersin province, has been announced in the Official Journal of the European Union.

The Geographical Indication of Mut Zeytinyağı (Olive Oil), originating from the Mersin province, has been announced in the Official Journal of the European Union, 7 April, 2025. With the publication of the application approved by the EU Commission, the final stage of the registration process has begun.

Following the completion of the three-month objection period required by EU legislation, Mut Zeytinyağı will be registered in the European Union.

President of the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT), Prof. Dr. Muhammed Zeki DURAK, shared a statement on the matter via his social media account:

"Mut Zeytinyağı” will become our fourth olive oil to be registered in the European Union, following Milas, Edremit, and Aydın Memecik Zeytinyağı (Olive Oils). As the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office, we continue to promote and brand our geographical indications internationally," he said.
