Söke Pamuğu (Cotton) becomes the first cotton product registered in the EU

Söke Pamuğu has become the 27th geographical indication registered in the European Union.

In a statement on the social media platform X, Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih KACIR announced that Söke Pamuğu has been registered by the European Union.

Minister KACIR said, "We continue to protect and promote the local values of Anatolia internationally through geograpgical indications. Söke Pamuğu has become our 27th geographical indication registered in the European Union. It has also been recorded as the first cotton product registered in the EU. I congratulate our producers and everyone who contributed to this beautiful development."

Prof. Dr. M. Zeki DURAK, President of TÜRKPATENT, also shared a statement on the social media platform X, saying "We continue to register our local values ​​in the European Union. Söke Pamuğu is the first cotton registered in the EU. This success is a blessing for Aydın and our country."
