Signing Ceremony of the Letter of Intent for Cooperation between WIPO and TÜRKPATENT

Within the scope of the Ankara visit of the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the accompanying WIPO delegation, the "Signing Ceremony of the Letter of Intent for Cooperation" took place at the Ministry of Industry and Technology on March 2, 2024.

TÜRKPATENT President Prof. Dr. M. Zeki DURAK, WIPO Director General Daren TANG and the accompanying WIPO delegation had a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih KACIR.

Following the meeting, Durak and TANG signed a "Letter of Intent for Cooperation" to strengthen the existing cooperation between the two institutions and to implement new cooperations, with the residence of Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih KACIR.

Minister KACIR said that with the protocol signed between TÜRKPATENT and WIPO, they will initiate joint projects in the fields of intellectual property, commercialization of patents and geographically indicated products.

He stated “Türkiye rose from 68th to 39th place in the Global Innovation Index. According to the WIPO report, Türkiye is 2nd in the world in design applications and 12th in the world in patent applications. We will accelerate innovation and further increase our intellectual property capacity.”
