A Letter of Intent for Cooperation on Accelerated Patent Examination was signed between the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT) and the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), on September 12, 2024.
Within the scope of the said Letter of Intent; in line with the pilot program developed within the scope of the Belt and Road Intellectual Property Cooperation (BRIPC), CNIPA will provide accelerated examination for Chinese applications where TÜRKPATENT is the first filing Office, including those entering the Chinese national phase, via the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) route.
The basic concept of the BRIPC Pilot Program is that in cases where TÜRKPATENT, as the first filing office, determines that one or more claims of a patent application are patentable/acceptable, the applicant may request accelerated examination of the Chinese application corresponding to the above patent application to CNIPA. CNIPA will accelerate the examination process for eligible applications.
The maximum number of applications to be made by TÜRKPATENT under the BRIPC Pilot Program will be limited to 100 per year.
The said Pilot Program started on January 20, 2025, and the official announcement of the program can be accessed via the link below:

(b) Copies of all claims determined by TÜRKPATENT to be patentable/acceptable and their translations in Chinese or English.
(c) Copies of references cited by the TÜRKPATENT examiner
If the applicant has submitted documents (a) to (c) above to CNIPA through concurrent or past procedures, the applicant may include the documents as references and is not obliged to do so.
